RN School Contract

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting a 12-year-old female student in the 5th grade who requires dedicated 1:1 nursing care in a school setting. The assignment runs from April 6 to May 20, 2025, with an Extended School Year (ESY) schedule as well. Work closely with the student throughout the school day (MondayFriday, approximately 7:00 am2:30/3:00 pm), providing crucial medical support both at school and during transit to and from her home in Barberton, OH.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in Ohio
  • Previous experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care
  • Skilled in providing care to medically fragile children
  • Comfortable assisting with oxygen management and wheelchair transfers
  • Ability to communicate with nonverbal students using supportive technology (eye gazing communication)
  • Willingness to ride the bus with the student and provide care during transit
  • Flexibility to adapt your schedule and be okay with intermittent absences when the student is not present (sometimes for several days at a time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 nursing services and maintain safety for a middle school-aged student with complex medical needs
  • Complete daily trach and oxygen support, including equipment monitoring and emergency response, as needed
  • Assist with wheelchair mobility and student transitions throughout the school day
  • Support the students communication needs and collaborate with school staff for a positive educational experience
  • Monitor for any changes in health status and report to appropriate medical or educational personnel
