RN School Contract

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting a bright and resilient 12-year-old student in 5th grade. This specialized role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with school nursing experience and expertise in trach and vent care. As a dedicated 1:1 RN, you will accompany the student between home and school, providing essential medical care and empowering her to engage with her educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Ohio RN license required
  • Prior experience working with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients
  • Strong background in pediatric or school nursing preferred
  • Comfortable with wheelchair transfers and assisting nonverbal, eye-gaze communication
  • Able to adapt to a dynamic schedule, including understanding that missed days may occur when the student is absent (sometimes up to a week at a time)
  • Compassionate, patient, and highly observant
  • Confident in providing bus transportation support between students home and school
  • Willingness to collaborate with school staff and follow established care protocols

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily trach, oxygen, and medical management per care plan
  • Provide 1:1 monitoring, including assistance with wheelchair mobility and safety
  • Communicate effectively with educators, family, and healthcare professionals
  • Support the students participation and comfort throughout the school day
  • Ride the bus to and from school with the student
  • Document all nursing interventions and any changes in condition
  • Ensure the students well-being and respond promptly to emergencies
