Director of Nursing DON

Excelcare at Dover is seeking a passionate and qualified Director of Nursing (DON) to provide clinical leadership and strategic oversight of nursing services within our skilled nursing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient day-to-day operations of the nursing department. The DON works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to promote a culture of excellence, safety, and person-centered care.

Director of Nursing (DON) Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise the daily operations of the nursing department.

• Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

• Ensure the implementation of individualized care plans for residents in compliance with regulations.

• Monitor resident care and ensure quality control standards are met.

• Collaborate with other department heads to coordinate comprehensive care and services.

• Participate in facility management meetings and contribute to policy development.

• Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including the implementation of facility policies.

• Evaluate patient care through regular assessments and audits, making adjustments as needed.

• Respond to patient concerns and communicate with families to provide updates on care and progress.

• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and budgeting for the nursing department.

What We Look for in a Director of Nursing (DON)

• Current and valid RN license in the state of New Jersey, in good standing

• Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or in a leadership role in long-term care.
