Treatment Nurse (Wound Care Nurse)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Treatment Nurse to join our team at West Haven Healthcare. As a dedicated member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing wound care to our residents under the supervision of the program manager. Your expertise and attention to detail will enable you to provide high-quality care, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible treatment and support.
Essential Responsibilities and Job Functions:
Provide wound care to designated residents under the supervision of the program manager
Administer wound care as indicated by the nursing care plan and in compliance with all regulatory agencies
Perform a variety of direct resident care, including but not limited to:
Reviews all resident histories to determine course of illness and co-morbidities for integration into the care plan
Demonstrates ability to provide appropriate and quality nursing care to residents
Ensures that problems/concerns regarding activities in the facility/department are communicated appropriately
Effectively assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates wound care for residents
Educates residents, families, and significant others regarding treatment, tests, special procedures, medications, and safety
Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and relay treatment plan decisions to other members of the nursing team
Reports all abnormal test results to physicians in a timely manner; triages activities based on borderline and/or abnormal and/or unusual findings
Education/Experience:
Long-term care experience preferably in a sub-acute setting
Currently licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse by the State of California
Prefer at least (6) six months experience in managing complex wound care
Prefer IV certification
Must be certified in CPR

Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively
Ability to interact effectively with team members, residents, families, and visitors
Emotional maturity, reliability, tact, integrity, and good judgment
Ability to plan, organize, and execute work activities independently
Ability to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions using independent judgment without immediate supervision
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and carrying/lifting potentially up to 40 lbs. or more occasionally
Requires using arm, leg, and back muscles frequently and for extended periods of time
Vision abilities require good vision and depth perception, both near and far
Noise level is usually moderately quiet
Employee may be exposed to occasional loud outbursts by residents
Exposure/Infection Control:
This position has a Personnel Exposure Risk Index rating of "High" for potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens
