The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an advanced practice provider position (ARNP/PA-C) available as a Teaching Associate. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month services periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is full-time with an anticipated start date is August 2026 or soon thereafter. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,834 - $12,500 per month ($130,008 - $150,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary pain team at the Center for Pain Relief at University of Washington Medical Center—Roosevelt, the primary site of outpatient pain management at UW. The Center for Pain Relief utilizes a collaborative approach between physicians (primarily from anesthesiology, but may also be from family/internal medicine, neurology, PM&R, and psychiatry), pain psychologists, advanced practice providers (APPs), and clinical pharmacists. The successful candidate will see patients independently, though each patient is also assigned an attending physician for periodic review. Duties include the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems, including relevant medical and psychological conditions. Other specific pain-related duties may include but are not limited to prescription and oversight of chronic opioid therapy and care coordination. There may be some involvement in oversight of specific pain treatments such as lidocaine infusions or capsaicin patch application and post-procedure follow up after outpatient pain interventions. Some training may be required.

Qualifications

Must have a graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant program. Must be a nationally certified ARNP/PA. Must obtain state of Washington ARNP or PA licensure by start of appointment.
