RN Research Nurse Coordinator l (Hybrid) - Radiology

Position Summary

This position will be in the Radiology Clinical Research Core (RadCore). RadCore supports novel clinical and translational research studies in the Department of Radiology. This position will support multiple clinical research studies on day-to-day clinical trial activities such as patient recruitment, data collection and entry, patient education, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation of research activities. Collaborates with principal investigators and physicians to provide support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. These duties include IV placement, lab draws, assisting with arterial line insertion/sampling/removal, patient assessments, and health history and physical examinations. Acts as liaison by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures, in accordance with study protocols, to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources. Assists research associates from sponsoring organizations, providing study explanations and reports as necessary.

This position works Monday - Friday. It is a hybrid position with a flexible work schedule.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works under the Principal Investigator’s (PI) guidance to meet the research objectives of the project.

  • Assists with study start-up activities including myIRB applications for initial review, modifications/amendments, continuing reviews and reportable events.

  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; documents, collects data and assists physicians.

  • Works with research team to identify, screen and enroll study subjects.

  • Ensures protocol requirements are met, including, but not limited to: direct contact with research participants; collection of basic health information; coordination of study related procedures; handling, processing and shipping of research specimens; organization of source documentation and data entry.

  • Prepares/submits reportable event reports to sponsor(s), IRB and regulatory agencies in accordance with the study protocol and established policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Collaborates with sponsor’s research associates during monitoring activities by providing study documentation, data clarifications and reports as necessary.

  • Provides oversight of administration of medications, study drugs, or study interventions, as appropriate. Administers investigational products in approved setting.

  • Educates staff nurses caring for research patients by providing necessary information about the research study including intervention, potential adverse events and required study procedures.

  • Performs other duties incidental to the work described above.
