Requirements

  • RN (Registered Nurse) License
  • Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
  • 1-year RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
  • BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU Responsibilities And Skills

  • Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
  • Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
  • Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
  • Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
  • Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
  • Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
  • Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
  • High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

This role is responsible for assessing patient health needs, supporting medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and ensuring compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nursing care plans Administer medications, including those related to MAT programs, and monitor effectiveness and side effects Provide education to patients and families on addiction, recovery, medication adherence, and overall health management Collaborate with counselors, case managers, providers, and other team members to ensure coordinated care Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in EHR systems Provide supervision and oversight of Approved Medication Assistive Personnel (AMAP) Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and program regulations, including SUD treatment standards Support infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance initiatives .
