STAFF NURSE (TEMP) Central Staffing Resources (Cardiac Procedure Unit - EP and Cath Prep/Procedure/Recovery)

Responsibilities*

Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR) and Cardiac Procedures Unit - Cath Lab, EP Lab, and OBS Recovery.

Wage: $55.00/hr. base rate

Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour

Night Shift Differential is $3.00 per hour

Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients being scheduled for Cath procedures and prepped for all procedures done in the cath labs.
  • Provide care for the patient during their coordination of care and/or during their right heart cardiac cath procedure including patients with heart failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, transplant biopsy needs.
  • Coordinate and participate with all members of the health care team including technical staff, physician staff ,nursing from other areas and anesthesia as indicated.


Required Qualifications*

  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with 2 years of ICU or ED experience within the last 3 years.
  • Experience with monitoring arrhythmias, hemodynamic pressures, emergent management of the cardiac patients and working knowledge of emergency cardiac medications.
  • Experience with conscious sedation and airway management.
  • Telephone triage experience
  • Coordination of care experience

  • Previous EP/Cath Lab experience or cared for Cath/EP patients
  • Experience in caring for patients with intra-aortic balloon pump therapy and other ventricular assist devices.

  • No weekend requirement, but may be scheduled for weekends

TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES

  • All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required


UM mandatories and compentencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all

other applicable certifications).

  • Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is


available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster speciality.

  • A Temporary Nurse should work 32 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four
  • , eight (8), ten (10) or twelve (12) hour shifts in advance.
  • Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.
  • Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation


program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical

competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the

Temporary RN.

About the Unit We are a 67-Bed Progressive Care Unit Adult Medicine & Specialties Our Progressive Care Unit cares for a diverse adult patient population requiring an elevated level of monitoring and nursing expertise. Nurses on this unit develop strong critical-thinking skills while caring for patients across multiple specialties, making this an excellent environment for growth and skill advancement. Patient populations and clinical experiences include: Adult Medicine, Surgical, Cardiac, Neurology, and GI patients Patients with ICDs, Permanent Pacemakers (PPMs), and Life Vests Post–pericardial window, chest tubes, and PleurX catheters CIWA monitoring and management Neurologic patients, including NIHSS stroke scale assessments and Q2 neuro checks Ventilator patients with tracheostomies New or continuous, hemodynamically stable BiPAP patients CAPD patients with cardiac conditions requiring PCU level of care Insulin drips with Q1 glucose monitoring Pregnant patients requiring Progressive Care Unit level of monitoring This broad scope of practice offers nurses the opportunity to sharpen advanced assessment skills while working closely with interprofessional teams. Qualifications Effective June 1, 2025, a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required. Two years of clinical experience Required.
