The Charge Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to the pre-op through discharge from the Center, including care provided in the Pre-op, Procedure Room and PACU. Sets and manages staffing schedule, oversees the day to day operational flow. Works closely with the Administrator/Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, Medical Director and all staff. Provides leadership through example and sets the pace for an efficient, quality care focused, team oriented endoscopy center.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Leads all aspects of the performance of tasks related to direct patient care in the pre-op, procedure rooms and PACU. Acts as a resource on clinical issues to all nursing and clinical ancillary staff.
- Serves as the team leader in the continuity of patient care in the clinical areas and acts as the Administrator/Clinical Director in the Director's absence.
- Defines and coordinates the adequate staffing of the pre-op, procedure rooms and PACU based on patient daily census and special patient needs.
- Ensures that all vital equipment and supplies are ordered for the clinical area and that inventory par levels are maintained.
- Is responsible for the ordering of medication and supplies on a weekly basis based on upcoming patient census.
- Directs the orientation, in-service training and education of assigned personnel, and conducts annual and off-cycle proficiency training.
- Holds monthly staff meetings to keep staff apprised of policy additions and revisions, findings of QI studies and implications, to relay pertinent information, and to allow employees to share ideas and concerns.
- Active member of the QAPI Committee, compiles QI data and assists in achieving compliance to QI measures at the Center.
- Assists the Safety Officer in implementing the Safety Program at the Center and ensures that environmental and electrical safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Assists the Infection Control Coordinator in implementing the Safety Program at the Center and ensures that infection control policies and procedures are followed.

Education
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Work Experience
- 5 years Nursing experience preferred
- 1 year Charge Nurse experience required
- 1 year Nursing experience in Hospital, ASC or Endoscopy center preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid CA RN license required
- ACLS required
- BLS required
