Position Description: Surgical Technologist First Assistant

  • As defined by the American College of Surgeons, Surgical Assistants (SAs) are trained individuals who are able to participate in, and actively assist the surgeon in, completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain homeostasis, and other technical functions

Location: South Florida Baptist Hospital

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: M, Tu, Th, Fr 6:45am - 5:15pm

Weekend Work: Occasional

On Call: Yes

Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Surgical Tech OR 2-years Surgical Technologist First Assistant - Main OR experience.
  • High School or Equivalent
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT Responsibilities: Specialized position as a Certified Surgical Technologist with our neurosurgical team. Neuro CST’s specialize in spine and brain surgery working alongside the same surgeons and RN’s consistently to become highly skilled in the specialty. Dedicated neuro-techs will take call responsibilities outside of their usual shift to cover neurosurgical cases during evenings, nights and weekends. Techs rotate weeks between team members. Other off-shift requirements are not covered by neuro specialty techs, only neurosurgical cases will require coverage. Additional duties include stocking specialty supplies and updating neurosurgical preference cards. Reports: Nurse Manager Supervises: None WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY Required Education: Minimum: High School Graduate Graduation from a formal accredited surgical technician training program.
