The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.  Job SummaryThe Advanced Practice Provider (APP) cares for our patients within the scope of training and approved the agreement, as outlined by their governing board. Works collaboratively with other providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and a high level of patient satisfaction. Responsibilities 
  • Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories, review patient records, develop comprehensive medical assessments, and order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, race, sex, and physical condition of the patient
  • Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, and other resources of the community or physician
  • Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisoning, and allergic reactions
  • Interpret and analyze patient data to determine patient status, patient management and treatment
  • Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and health care promotion to patients/family/ significant others
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
 Qualifications
  • Excellent communicator with staff, patients, and family
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA Board Certified – (with 1 yr ER/UC experience preferred outside of clinical rotations)
  • Active and current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of practice, DEA number, and state-controlled substance certificate, as required
  • Able to multi-task and work independently
  • DOT Certification preferred

Overview Responsible for providing prenatal, postnatal, general medical care and treatment of patients within the Maternal Fetal Medicine division which is a division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Nurse Practitioners are expected to function as an independent provider primarily coordinating pre-pregnancy, prenatal and post-partum care in women with high-risk pregnancies. This position will provide a combination of inpatient and outpatient care duties. Maternal Fetal Medicine nurse practitioners’ function in an expanded nursing role and perform selected tasks and services within the province of medicine as well as tasks that fall within the province of nursing. Nursing and medicine must maintain ongoing collaboration in education and practice so that the nurse practitioner is maximally effective in meeting the primary health-care needs of women. When performing nursing aspects of this role, the practitioner must have the opportunity to engage in independent as well as co-operative decision-making. When performing expanded aspects of the role that overlap with medicine, the practitioner must function in collaboration with qualified physicians within the framework of jointly approved guidelines. Nurse practitioners not only must be prepared and competent to apply additional knowledge and skills, but also must be ready and willing to accept responsibility and accountability for their practice. Overview The Strelitz Diabetes Center, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders Division, Department of Medicine is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), a nurse practitioner (NP) or a physician assistant (PA), who will function as a clinical provider. The APP will participate in all aspects of patient care and will participate in the supporting roles of consultant, and educator. The main role of the position will include outpatient care of patients as well as in-patient consulting and conducting hospital inpatient rounds. Primary focus will be on patients with diabetes mellitus but may also include other endocrine disorders. Responsibilities Provide medical care to patients in an office/ hospital setting. Collaborate with Nursing, office staff, administration in patient care. Collaborate with peers, and support staff. Participate in academic/clinical/research activates as needed. Participate in education evaluations and career development of students, residents, fellow, and staff. Participate in committees as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: Nurse Practitioner must have MSN and must be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified Nurse Practitioner.
