Seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department in providing exceptional resident-centered care. The DON is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all nursing services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting quality outcomes and resident satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will be a strong clinical leader with experience in skilled nursing and long-term care, a commitment to regulatory compliance, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
Direct and oversee all nursing services within the facility.
Ensure delivery of high-quality nursing care consistent with resident needs and facility standards.
Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Lead infection prevention, fall reduction, wound care, and medication management programs.
Promote resident-centered care and quality of life.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain compliance with all CMS, AHCA, OSHA, CDC, and state regulations.
Prepare for and participate in surveys, audits, and inspections.
Ensure timely completion of corrective actions and plans of correction.
Monitor adherence to facility policies and procedures.
Staffing and Workforce Management
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff.
Develop staffing schedules to meet resident needs and regulatory requirements.
Monitor staffing metrics, overtime, agency utilization, and turnover.
Foster employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)
Participate in and lead QAPI activities.
Analyze quality measures and identify opportunities for improvement.
Monitor incidents, accidents, infections, hospital readmissions, and clinical indicators.
Develop action plans to improve resident outcomes.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments.
Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and healthcare providers.
Budget and Resource Management
Assist with development and management of nursing department budgets.
Monitor supply utilization and cost control measures.
Ensure adequate equipment and resources are available for resident care.
Qualifications
Required
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida (or eligible for licensure).
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care setting.
Thorough knowledge of CMS regulations, AHCA requirements, and long-term care operations.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.
Preferred
Previous Director of Nursing experience
Experience with survey management and quality improvement initiatives.
Certification in Gerontological Nursing, Infection Prevention, or Long-Term Care Administration is a plus.
