Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Licensed Practical Nurse - Clinical  at Castle Point VA Medical Center in Wappingers, New York. This contract position offers:

 

Position Highlights:

Education and Experience:

The Family Medicine Licensed Practical Nurse will have the following requirements:

 

  • Must be a US citizen, or lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the US
  • Shall have and maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Additionally, must provide proof of documented training from the National Foundation for Integrative Medicine (NFIM) or a similar accredited body. 
  • Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency; and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Two years experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment; properly administering oral and parenteral medications; conducting paraprofessional portions of physical examinations; or assisting in medical treatment of patients in accordance with established procedures and protocols, within the LVN scope of practice.
  • Must be U.S Citizen

Description Duties Description The Licensed Practical Nurse, under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or other licensed health care provider, performs nursing care tasks and procedures consistent with individual treatment plans and scope of practice to maintain health, prevent and cure illness and injury, and alleviate suffering using practical knowledge of health processes and facility procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse assists registered nurses, physicians, or other licensed health care providers in the identification of individuals’ needs and participates in the development of plans to address goals. The incumbent administers medications and nursing procedures to individuals as prescribed; obtains and records individuals’ temperatures, blood pressures, pulse rates, and other vital signs using standard instruments and procedures; observes, monitors, and records individuals’ symptoms and conditions to obtain and provide information for diagnosis and treatment; identifies responses to medication or changes in health status; and reports such to a registered nurse, physician, or other licensed health care provider. The Licensed Practical Nurse also prepares individuals for or assists with examinations and treatments; maintains charts and other records of individuals’ conditions and/or administered treatments; attends to individuals’ personal needs, including activities of daily living and hygiene tasks, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and grooming; talks to individuals, listens to their concerns and responses, and encourages them to cooperate and participate in treatment and rehabilitation activities. Furthermore, the Licensed Practical Nurse educates and counsels individuals and/or families regarding their health, medications, treatment goals and procedures, and behavioral interactions as appropriate.
