As a contract LPN in a school setting, you'll provide crucial 1:1 care for a student managing Type 1 diabetes, using advanced technology and your clinical expertise to ensure their wellbeing throughout the academic year.

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Valid LPN or LVN license in New Jersey
Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric nursing role preferred
Proficiency in monitoring and managing diabetes care, including use of Dexcom CGM and Omnipod insulin pump
Strong skills in recognizing patterns in blood glucose readings and adept at performing system checks
Comfortable utilizing smartphone-based health monitoring apps and devices
Ability to perform finger-stick blood glucose testing as a backup and discern when manual checks are necessary
Excellent communication abilities for collaboration with school staff, families, and healthcare providers
Commitment to confidentiality, reliability, and compassionate care

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 care for a student during the school day, focusing on diabetes management and safety
Monitor blood sugar readings continuously through Dexcom CGM, identifying critical trends and promptly addressing concerns
Perform manual blood glucose tests when readings do not align with the student's symptoms
Maintain clear and accurate health records throughout the assignment
Communicate updates as needed with supervising staff and student guardians
Respond quickly and calmly to any health emergencies
