Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program
  • Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in occ health, primary care, urgent care or a related field is preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served

Gastroenterology, Advanced Practice Provider

Overview Overview: In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for: Gastroenterology care, including comprehensive GI‑focused assessments, rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges Support a rapidly growing GI service line, providing clinical partnership to Physicians and APPs as procedure volume and patient demand continue to expand Assist in managing gastroenterology patients in the clinic, helping ensure timely access, continuity of care, and high‑quality follow‑up Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending gastroenterologists Prepare patients for endoscopic or interventional GI procedures, manage post‑procedure care, and support smooth transitions across the continuum of care Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, abdominal imaging, stool studies, and GI‑specific diagnostics Provide patient and family education to enhance understanding of GI diagnoses, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and long‑term disease management Collaborative work environment with gastroenterologists, residents, advanced practice providers, dietitians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams Five 8-hour day shifts per week, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
