Step into a vital nursing role supporting K-12 students with complex medical needs in an engaging and collaborative school environment near Tacoma, WA. Contract positions are available for both RNs and LPNs to provide dedicated 1:1 care throughout the academic year, from September 2nd to June 4th, with a full-time Monday through Friday schedule of 32.537.5 hours weekly.
You will make a direct impact, working with students requiring tracheostomy or ventilator care, diabetic monitoring, seizure management, and g-tube feeding. Some cases may also involve wheelchair assistance and toileting as well as supporting students during bus travel to and from school. Multiple openings offer the chance to work in several schools across the Tacoma, Artondale, and University Place areas, serving the diverse needs of elementary through high school students.
Qualifications:
- Active LPN or RN license for WA state is required
- Previous pediatric or school nursing experience highly desired
- Proficiency with trach/vent/g-tube care, and familiarity with seizure/diabetic protocols
- Comfortable providing personal care and assisting with toileting and mobility
- Able to work independentlyno clinical supervision provided, but strong school support available
- Must complete district onboarding, including fingerprinting, before starting
- Compassion, adaptability, and a team-focused mentality
What Youll Do:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care according to each students plan
- Administer emergency interventions and daily treatments as needed
- Collaborate with school staff and parents to provide seamless care
- Support students on school transportation when required
- Accurately document all care and communication per district guidelines
- Participate in school-based training and ongoing support opportunities
