Job Description

The Advance Practice Registered Nurse- Clinical Specialty provides an advanced level of care in collaboration with specialty physicians and other members of the health care team to a specific patient population. Maintains an advanced knowledge base and skill in the assessment and treatment of disease and management of health/illness where Clinical Specialty is a preferred treatment resource for patients. May perform specific diagnostic and/or interventional procedures under the supervision of the physician.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Maintain current licensed as a registered professional nurse in Missouri
  • Graduation and certification for Nurse Practitioner program; must maintain active certification
  • Certification in specialty as approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice may be required.
  • Holds current Collaborative Practice Arrangement with the organization as a provider
  • Current BCLS verification
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in area of specialty practice
  • Demonstrates leadership ability
  • 3-5 years clinical experience
  • Current ACLS and must be maintained in a current/active state for continued employment when required by the department

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and correctional staff to gather relevant information for accurate diagnoses. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for incarcerated individuals with psychiatric disorders. Prescribe appropriate psychiatric medications and monitor their effectiveness and side effects. Provide brief psychotherapy and counseling services to incarcerated individuals, using evidence-based therapeutic modalities. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment. Modify treatment plans as needed based on patients' progress and response to interventions. Crisis Intervention and Emergency Services: Respond to psychiatric emergencies within the correctional facility promptly and efficiently.
