Helping Hearts USA LLC is currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and skilled caregivers to provide high-quality, hands-on care for a bedbound client in the Downtown Nashville area.
This is a meaningful opportunity for caregivers who take pride in providing attentive, respectful, and detail-oriented care. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of dignity, patience, safety, consistency, and emotional support when caring for clients with higher levels of need.
This client requires a caregiver who is confident, observant, professional, and experienced with personal care, repositioning, skin integrity, blood sugar support, and daily comfort care.
Skills Needed for a Bedbound Client
The ideal caregiver should be comfortable and experienced with:
Communication Skills:
Ability to clearly communicate with the client, family members, office team, and other healthcare providers to understand and support the client’s needs.
Patient Observation and Assessment:
Ability to observe and report changes in the client’s physical, emotional, and psychological condition, including any signs of discomfort, decline, skin concerns, or changes in behavior.
Personal Care Support:
Knowledge of proper techniques for assisting with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene care, and maintaining the client’s dignity at all times.
Mobility and Repositioning Support:
Experience safely repositioning a bedbound client using proper body mechanics and techniques to help prevent pressure ulcers and promote comfort.
Nutritional Support:
Ability to assist with meals, feeding, hydration, and monitoring intake while following the client’s dietary needs and preferences.
Infection Control:
Strong understanding of hygiene practices, proper handwashing, cleanliness, and reducing infection risks in the client’s environment.
Pain and Comfort Awareness:
Ability to identify signs of pain or discomfort and provide appropriate support within caregiver scope, such as repositioning, comfort measures, and notifying the proper team members when needed.
Emotional Support:
Ability to provide reassurance, encouragement, companionship, and patience to help the client feel safe, respected, and cared for.
Documentation:
Ability to accurately document care provided, observations, completed tasks, and any changes in the client’s condition.
Team Collaboration:
Willingness to work as part of a coordinated care team to help ensure the client receives consistent, reliable, and high-quality care.
Experience and Skills Required
Applicants should have:
At least 1 year of caregiving experience
Experience with personal care
Experience or comfort with blood sugar management/support
Knowledge of safe transfer and repositioning techniques
Understanding of proper body mechanics
Ability to help prevent and monitor for pressure sores or skin breakdown
Ability to observe and report changes in physical and emotional condition
Familiarity with medication reminders and supporting care plans
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with clients and families
A compassionate, professional, and detail-oriented approach to care
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care:
Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, and other daily living needs while preserving the client’s dignity and promoting independence whenever possible.
Positioning and Mobility:
Safely reposition the client to support comfort, circulation, and skin integrity. Use proper techniques to help reduce the risk of pressure sores.
Companionship:
Provide meaningful interaction, conversation, reassurance, and emotional support to reduce isolation and promote well-being.
Light Housekeeping:
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, including tidying, dusting, vacuuming, laundry, and keeping the client’s space comfortable.
Meal Preparation:
Prepare nutritious meals based on the client’s dietary needs and preferences. Support hydration and safe food handling.
Health Monitoring:
Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, including physical symptoms, emotional changes, vital signs, blood sugar-related concerns, and overall comfort.
Medication Reminders:
Provide medication reminders and support the client’s treatment plan within caregiver scope.
Skin Care Monitoring:
Monitor for signs of redness, irritation, or skin breakdown and report concerns promptly.
Transportation:
Safely transport clients to appointments and errands when needed, ensuring comfort and safety during travel.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
Minimum age of 18 years old
Minimum 5 year of caregiving experience
Experience with personal care and blood sugar support
Valid driver’s license
Current car insurance
Reliable vehicle
Ability to pass a comprehensive 15-year background check
Ability to pass a drug screening
Favorable professional references
Proof of identity
Proof of U.S. work authorization
High school diploma or equivalent
Social Security card
Birth certificate
