Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a compassionate, resident-centered skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility dedicated to delivering exceptional care and clinical excellence. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and support our mission of providing outstanding care to our residents and families.

Position Overview 

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all nursing operations within the facility, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining the highest standards of resident care. This leadership role plays a critical part in staff development, clinical oversight, quality improvement, and resident satisfaction. 

The ideal candidate is a compassionate leader with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to building and supporting high-performing teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the nursing department and clinical teams  

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines  

  • Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and quality assurance initiatives  

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, department heads, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure excellent resident care  

  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and staff development efforts  

  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing staff education  

  • Monitor clinical outcomes and lead quality improvement initiatives  

  • Manage nursing department budgets, supplies, and operational needs  

  • Respond to resident and family concerns with professionalism, compassion, and urgency  

  • Serve as a key member of the facility leadership team and help foster a positive workplace culture  

Qualifications 

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina  

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing  

  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, infection prevention, and clinical compliance standards  

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills  

  • Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop nursing teams  

  • Compassionate, resident-focused, and team-oriented leadership style  

  • Commitment to providing exceptional care and improving resident outcomes
