Overview
We are seeking an PACU Charge Nurse, also referred to as a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Charge Nurse or PACU Charge RN. The PACU Charge Nurse leads and coordinates the care of patients recovering from anesthesia in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, ensuring their safety and comfort. They supervise nursing staff, manage patient flow, and communicate with the surgical team to provide smooth transitions. Additionally, they oversee documentation, resource management, and compliance with hospital policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Oversee daily PACU operations, including assigning and delegating patient care tasks to nursing staff and coordinating patient flow from the OR to the PACU and subsequent units
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, manage pain control, vital signs, and provide direct care for complex post-operative cases
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing staff while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control
- Serve as a liaison between surgical teams and nursing staff, communicating patient status updates and facilitating smooth care transitions
- Manage documentation accuracy, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and oversee resource availability, including staffing and supplies
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital setting, preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of critical care, PACU experience, preferred in an acute care hospital setting.
- CNOR or CCRN within two (2) years, preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
