Qualifications:

Currently licensed as RN in this state.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Five years in long-term or acute health care preferred.
At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required.

Prepares patients for endoscopic procedure: Performs pre-procedure assessment and gathers data relevant to patient procedure to include, review pre-procedure patient information, history, medications, and allergies. Plans care appropriately based on needs identified during initial and on-going assessments. Addresses more complex, urgent, or emergent situations and escalated from other endoscopy center staff. Performs point of care testing (CLIA-Waived Tests only) following established protocols/instructions. Inserts peripheral intravenous catheter per established protocol. Administer pre-procedure medications as ordered by physician; documents medication administration per established procedures. Provides care to the patient and assistance to the physician during the endoscopic procedure: Assists in preparing the procedure room prior to each procedure, including general cleaning, room turn-over, and restocking of supplies. Determines availability of all necessary equipment and supplies; procures unanticipated items needed for team members during the procedure. Serves as an integral member of the time out process and is directly responsible for completing the pre-procedure checklist. Documents procedure and interactions in patient’s electronic medical record in accordance with established procedures. Assures accurate labeling and ordering of pathology specimens obtained during the procedure. Provides care to the patient during the post-procedure/recovery phase: Monitors patient and records vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain level during recovery. Alerts physician of patient’s status and any adverse events. Determines patient appropriateness for discharge from recovery.
