As a Nurse Manager, you will carry out our Mission of Love by being responsible for a large group of nursing employees, to include supervisors that may cover several functional areas. You will determine staffing needs and participate in the recruitment, retention, and disciplinary processes for assigned care area. You will conduct performance reviews. You will coach and counsel employees and act as a liaison between departments. You will be accountable for managing services for geriatric residents and their families, and for facilitating optimal clinical outcomes and good customer service to ensure clinical excellence and resident/employee satisfaction.

Our Nurse Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Contributes to the comprehensive planning process of the nursing department and obtains achievable objectives connected to appropriate goals and guided by the mission and goals of Masonic Village.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and budget requests for respective areas of responsibility. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing for budget development as requested. Accountable for financial and operational performance for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Accountable for assuring an appropriate staffing schedule for relevant nursing personnel consistent with adequate staffing guidelines. Manages employee schedules, time requests, and time records in scheduling system.
  • Invests quality time on assigned resident care area to demonstrate support of employees and all other customers, to assure problem solving and identify future opportunities for improvement. Provides sincere praise and recognition to employees especially within assigned areas of responsibility. Seek opportunities to observe staff doing their jobs well. Delegates to nursing charge personnel the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to perform their assigned duties. Fulfills the roles of nursing staff as needed in staffing shortage situations.
  • Collaborates with ADON/DON, other managers, and Human Resources personnel regarding nursing staff recruitment, interviews, and prospective employees and participates in the selection process. Disciplines and/or recommends termination of employment of nursing personnel from their area of responsibility. Assists with the interview process of internal candidates for open positions through our formalized selection process. Supports the mentoring of new employees, and the retention of current employees
  • Assures timely completion of performance appraisals for all day shift nursing employees, and for all LPNs and CNAs assigned to evening and night shifts. Seeks input from the Shift Coordinators for the evening and night staff performance appraisals. Provides input to the Shift Coordinators regarding the Nursing Supervisors relative to their performance.
  • Meets at least monthly with nursing team members for assigned resident care area. Establishes and maintains collaborative communication with nursing and other Health Care Center professionals of the facility.
  • Makes suggestions for, and assists in developing, updating and standardizing procedures as needed.
  • Supports the quality improvement initiative including nursing quality assurance. Assures and/or conducts monitoring of documentation and resident care practices for assigned resident care areas to assure compliance with acceptable standards and facility policy. Participates in the Infection Control Program as needed/requested.
  • Participates in survey preparedness process to ensure compliance with OBRA regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements. Participates in surveys conducted by authorized agencies.
  • Reviews concerns, complaints and grievances filed by employees, residents or families/responsible parties. Takes necessary steps to resolve them. Supports the Safety Services & Risk Management Department including reviewing and investigating employee incident and accident reports.

What You Need as an RN Nurse Manager:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (Registered Nurse). Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and/or Master's degree is preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing required.
  • Two years recent nursing experience in a long term care environment including satisfactory experience in a leadership role required.
  • Current knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to long term care facilities preferred. Recent experience in dementia care.
  • Positive interpersonal skills required.
  • CPR certification required prior to or upon employment.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
