Job Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and direction to all staff (nursing, healthcare, operations, food management, security, etc.) and ensuring an efficient workflow and effective communication
  • Supervising staff to promote effective care, giving guidance as needed
  • Fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
  • Approving schedules and helping to maintain accurate time keeping
  • Providing a direct line of communication between residents, families, nursing staff, and providers
  • Implementing and enforcing protocols and procedures to ensure resident safety at all times
  • Monitoring adherence to infection control measures, medication safety practices, and fall prevention strategies
  • Assessing resident care environments to identify potential hazards and implementing corrective actions
  • Facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration to address safety concerns and implement preventive measures
  • Promoting a culture of reporting and transparency regarding adverse events, near misses, and errors and encouraging staff members to communicate openly without fear of reprisal
  • Participating in root cause analyses and investigations of resident safety incidents, identifying underlying causes and implementing preventive strategies
  • Keeping updated on emerging trends and evidence-based practices in clinical safety, incorporating new knowledge into resident care practices
  • Coordinating resident care activities, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as all admissions and discharges
  • Ensuring that resident care plans are developed and implemented in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring resident status and response to treatment, intervening as necessary to address any issues or concerns
  • Collaborating with other healthcare providers to promote interdisciplinary care and achieve optimal resident outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, including state and federal regulations, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments to monitor the quality of nursing care and identify areas for improvement
  • Being accountable to follow and adhere to the Resident Care Plan as defined

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid and current state-issued RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of charge nurse or supervisory nursing experience within the past 5 years
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid clinical assessment abilities and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to remain calm and problem solve effectively under pressure
