American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a community hospital in Pennsylvania, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and an active PA or Compact RN license.
Job details:
- Night shift position working 3x12 or 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
- No on-call responsibilities
- Labor & Delivery unit within a community hospital setting
- Low-risk L&D environment with fewer than 100 facility births per month
- Work settings include Labor & Delivery, LDRP, Antepartum, Mother/Baby, and Level I Nursery
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Epic EMR required
- Floating required as needed
- Holiday coverage required as needed
Requirements:
- Active PA RN license or Compact RN license (no license encumbrances accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience
- Community hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP (AHA or ARC-issued only)
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced
- Epic EMR experience required
- Community-level L&D experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line maintenance, infusion pump management, and cardiac monitoring
- Experience with fetal monitoring including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, EFM, and IUPC placement
- Experience managing high-acuity obstetric conditions including pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa/abruptio, postpartum hemorrhage, and uterine rupture
- Ability to circulate for C-sections and assist with vaginal deliveries
- Neonatal resuscitation experience required
Additional information:
- Responsibilities span the full continuum of L&D care including antepartum, labor and delivery management, postpartum, and newborn care
- Skilled medication administration includes Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, antiseizure agents, insulin drips, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
- Neonatal care responsibilities include APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, radiant warmer use, newborn assessments, metabolic screens, and phototherapy
- Candidates may be assigned to care for COVID-positive patients
- Candidates must complete pre-start online modules, which generally take 5–6 hours
- Manager interview is required as part of the selection process
- Charge nurse experience is preferred
- Tobacco-free and fragrance-free facility
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility will be considered at a lower pay rate
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract
- Travel pairs are accepted; matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
