HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Assists surgeon by passing sterile articles, retracting tissue, counting and handling of surgical specimens
  • remains alert to and safeguards against patient injury from electrical/mechanical hazards while guarding asepsis.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

Minimum:

  • High School Graduate
  • Graduation from a formal accredited surgical technician training program.

 

Required Experience:

  • none

Preferred:

  • Two years surgical technician experience
  • 2 years’ experience with Open Hearts
  • Experience with CV procedures

 

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Certified Surgical Tech Certification

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT Responsibilities: Specialized position as a Certified Surgical Technologist with our neurosurgical team. Neuro CST’s specialize in spine and brain surgery working alongside the same surgeons and RN’s consistently to become highly skilled in the specialty. Dedicated neuro-techs will take call responsibilities outside of their usual shift to cover neurosurgical cases during evenings, nights and weekends. Techs rotate weeks between team members. Other off-shift requirements are not covered by neuro specialty techs, only neurosurgical cases will require coverage. Additional duties include stocking specialty supplies and updating neurosurgical preference cards. Requirements Graduate of an approved program for Surgical Technicians or graduate of a military training program in surgical technology with a high school diploma or GED. Certification in BCLS. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Possesses a thorough knowledge of principles and practice of surgical asepsis. Successful completion of a hospital and unit-specific orientation which includes age and population specific skills for the area of practice in which the CST will be working and addresses the growth and development needs for the patients for whom the CST will be providing care. Physical Requirements: Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
