HOURS: 7:30-2:30 SALARY: $46,382 (Bachelor's Degree) $48,592 (Master's Degree) Salary negotiable based on experience
Position Overview Depew Union Free School District is seeking a compassionate, organized, and student-centered School Nurse to support the physical and emotional well-being of our students. The School Nurse will provide direct healthcare services, promote health education, and collaborate with staff and families to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff
Administer medications and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies)
Develop and maintain Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs)
Monitor and maintain immunization and health records in compliance with state regulations
Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.)
Serve as a liaison between families, healthcare providers, and school staff
Promote health education and wellness initiatives
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health guidelines

Qualifications

Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS Provider Certification
Previous pediatric, community health, or school nursing experience preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience with diabetes, asthma, and allergy treatments preferred

Preferred Skills

Experience managing student health data systems
Knowledge of public health guidelines and immunization requirements
Experience working in a school setting

Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in units/shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS 1. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York required. 2. Is a graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing. 3. Successfully completes facility conducted orientation, mandatory training and inservice programs. 4. Previous long term care experience is required. Supervisory experience and organizational skills in a long term care setting preferred. 5. Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage Mantoux skin test. 6. Is listed in good standing as confirmed on the New York State Department of Professional Credentialing. 7. Possesses excellent technical assessment and documentation skills, and leadership quantities. 8. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. 9. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required. 10. Successful completion of facility conducted orientation on specialized dementia units, as appropriate.
