American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a compact or PA RN license and Epic charting experience.
Job details:
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a community hospital
- Care for antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby patients including low-risk and high-risk obstetric cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
- Night shift schedule (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), 3x12 or 4x12 hours with a blocked schedule option available
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Required to take 3 12-hour call shifts per 6-week period
- Floating as needed
- Holiday coverage as needed
- May care for COVID-positive patients
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or PA license required)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP required (AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate preferred)
- Epic charting experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, administration of blood products, central line maintenance, and cardiac monitoring
- Experience with fetal monitoring, EFM, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience managing high-risk obstetric conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, VBAC, and postpartum hemorrhage
Additional information:
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum monitoring, delivery assistance, and postpartum care
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching to parents
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives as part of obstetric care
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
- Candidates will undergo a clinical pre-screen followed by a manager interview for final decision
- Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 7 days
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are considered local and offered a lower bill rate
- Travel pairs may be considered, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
- EKG competency exam must be completed and passed within 72 hours of contract signing
