Position Overview

We are seeking a full‑time Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our highly specialized Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at East Jefferson General Hospital.

Program Highlights

You’ll support a diverse and complex cardiac case mix with large mechanical support, including:

Open Heart Surgery
Heart and Lung Transplant
Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
12 hour shifts Day/night rotation

In this role, you will function as an advanced clinician providing comprehensive, evidence‑based care to complex, critically ill cardiothoracic patients. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care across the continuum.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Decision‑Making

Assess acutely and critically ill patients, identifying urgent and emergent conditions
Analyze clinical data to recognize physiologic instability and guide treatment decisions
Formulate and implement plans of care for complex acute and chronic conditions

Clinical Interventions

Perform advanced therapeutic interventions within approved scope of practice and credentialed privileges
Evaluate indications, contraindications, risks, benefits, and outcomes of interventions
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition to optimize outcomes

Plan of Care Management

Evaluate, modify, and document care plans based on patient response
Coordinate transitions of care across levels and settings
Incorporate health promotion, injury prevention, and patient safety principles into all care plans

Education & Collaboration

Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and provider teams
Act as a consultant and collaborator within a multidisciplinary environment

Professional Development & Leadership

Participate in scholarly activities, research, and quality improvement initiatives
Maintain all required competencies and pursue ongoing professional development
Serve as a preceptor and mentor for nurses, APPs, students, and other healthcare professionals

Patient Safety & Quality

Education

Master’s degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies

Licensure & Certification
