A Brief Overview

This full-time premium rate position is a 36 weekly hour shift opportunity with benefits!

Rotating shifts with every 3rd weekend and holiday requirement (see above).

Amazing opportunity for dual campus support with the Philadelphia and King of Prussia campuses.

Support our stellar critical care units including NICU, PICU and Cardiac ICU.

This requires minimum of 2 years inpatient pediatric ICU experience.


The SWAT nurse is a highly skilled, highly trained experienced nurse who provides support to various Nursing Units, including but not limited to ICU, Medical, Surgical, and at least 1 specialty area as defined in Supplemental Staffing Nursing Policy. The SWAT nurse is able to function independently to provide safe, quality and clinically competent care. The SWAT nurse is able to plan, implement, evaluate and document care that is in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Total Hours: Status 0.5 to 1.0 FTE
Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
Department: Flex Team
Holiday Requirement (Winter/Summer): 24 hrs of Winter and 12 hrs of Summer holidays

What you will do

  • 1. Nursing Practice
  • Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Synthesizes patient assessment data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with care team.
  • Collaborates with family, team members, and other caregivers to initiate/update plan of care, patient/family education, and discharge needs.
  • Manages care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.
  • Identifies expected outcomes, revises plan of care when unexpected outcomes arise, and begins to use full range of communication as a means of conveying plan.
  • Documents ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides care that meets professional standards of practice and meets regulatory requirements.

  • Role models appearance and behaviors that promote a positive image of nursing.
  • Interacts with parents/patients and colleagues with respect and dignity.

Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators.
