We are seeking an experienced, compassionate Area Nurse Manager to provide clinical leadership, support, and guidance across senior living communities throughout our East Coast Florida district. (Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Vero Beach, Palm Beach) 

This position is a highly visible clinical leadership role for an RN who enjoys working directly with communities, developing clinical leaders, supporting frontline teams, and driving quality outcomes. The Area Nurse Manager will travel throughout the district weekly and work closely with the District Director of Clinical Services to provide coverage, clinical expertise, education, and operational support.

Base pay in range will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience. Full-time associates in role are also eligible for an annual bonus incentive. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Supports the District Director of Clinical Services (DDCS) in managing the healthcare operations of the communities in an assigned district. Helps ensure residents’ healthcare needs are met in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as Brookdale standards. Travels within the district as assigned to support management vacancy, training, auditing and any other area identified to ensure clinical excellence and meet state requirements.

 

  1. Travels throughout the district weekly to communities as assigned by the DDCS.
  2. Fills the role of HWD in assigned communities when an HWD is on leave, extended vacation or the position is vacant.
  3. Provides clinical support and guidance for communities with regulatory deficiencies.
  4. Audits community clinical compliance and partners with other leaders to design and implement action plans as needed.
  5. Provides root cause analysis and hands on support to ensure clinical outcome are meeting standards and key areas are current, which may include: service plans, orders, PCC compliance, MAR clarification, weights, skins, etc. Ensures compliance post-cleanup as needed.
  6. Supports clinical initiatives and roll-outs by leading training for the district and/or individual communities as assigned by DDCS.
  7. In some states coordinates and signs resident assessments. This may include completing comprehensive assessments including personal interview with the resident and other if the resident due to any impairment needs assist with history, etc.
  8. Facilitates RN Delegations for medications and care per state regulations.
  9. Participates in a variety of meetings with the division, district and individual communities.
  10. Provides training, coaching and guidance to clinical leaders and front line staff.
  11. Participates in clinical training and audits compliance; including facilitating Med Tech/QMAP/Med. Aide training and competency evaluations.
  12. May assist DDCS in clinical Quality Assurance (QA) site visits.
  13. Provides insight to DDCS on overall assessment of community strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). May be asked to provide regular reports.
  14. Provides support in clinical investigations and may participate in disciplinary actions.
  15. Supports DDCS with special projects as assigned.
  16. Provide district clinical support when DDCS is unavailable which may include responding to questions, support move in/out discussions etc.
  17. Ensures proper and timely documentation in accordance with Brookdale policies and procedures and federal and state requirements.
  18. Maintains a working knowledge of and adheres to company policies, procedures and Clinical Systems.
  19. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in applying nursing knowledge in accordance with state nursing regulations.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in nursing, health education or related field or Diploma RN. Two or more years of direct nursing experience with older adults.

 

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Current nurse (RN) license, issued by appropriate state licensing agency. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle for business use.

 

Management/Decision Making
Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. If serving in single community, may directly supervise associates who are certified or trained to pass medications.

 

Knowledge and Skills
Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Has working knowledge of a functional discipline. Basic typing skills along with a working knowledge of personal computing and word processing software are required, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of company. Ability to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Specific Essential Function for trained Advanced Care Registered Nurse ECMO Specialist Job responsibilities * Registered Nurses who have received specialized training and are able to function as an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) Specialist provide daily staffing for Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) services. * Specialists work under the direction of unit leadership, intensivist services, perfusion services, and in collaboration with bedside staff to ensure that the patient on ECMO has adequate perfusion, corrects for proper acid-base balance, and provides for hemodynamic stability within ordered parameters. * Nursing ECMO Specialists work in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and communicate with physicians, perfusionists and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust and complete treatment specific care for the ECMO patient. * ECMO specialists are expected to perform required technical skills with efficiency, accuracy and safety while anticipating, troubleshooting, and managing crises and emergency situations according to policy and procedure. * Performs scheduled, un-scheduled, and emergency ECLS in the hospital setting. * Operates all ECMO equipment under the direction of MD/perfusion providers. * Monitors and optimizes the ECMO circuit and related equipment during the management period. * Accurately administers blood products and medications through the ECMO circuit when ordered. * Manages any equipment when connected in-line with ECMO circuit. * Management of ECLS during transport. * Ensures continuous ECLS coverage. * Attends Mandatory Quarterly Simulations.
