Job Summary:

Provides assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider (physician or advanced practice provider) in a clinic setting.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.  Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Wisconsin ONLY - High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience, and graduate from medical assistant school or training program or education equivalency for certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

Physicians Care is looking for experienced Medical Assistants to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention. Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly check expiration dates on supplies. Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files. Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence Ensure reception is well maintained Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up. Perform opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
