Responsibilities

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, within the core clinic hours of 07300 to 1630

Shift Structure: The Government supervisor reserves the right to make schedule adjustments as needed to meet patient care requirements.

Job Specific Details and Tasks:

Serves as a Practical Nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
Monitors and records age-appropriate physiological
Orients new patients to the clinic/hospital
Assists with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as
Provides individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
Performs appropriate portions of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic, and clinical procedures.
Records treatment, procedure rendered and observed
Identifies and records patient problems and appropriately notifies provider/nursing team of observations.
Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.
Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD, Nurse Practitioner or Midwife and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed to include urgent intravenous access and procedures.
Perform and complete specimen collections to include urine, catheter collection, venipuncture, tissue biopsies, KOH, STI swabs, GBS swabs, and any other indicated collections in accordance with unit policies/procedures.
Adheres to infection control procedures including use of personal protective equipment, disposal of waste, and aseptic technique.
Performs central sterile supply
Ensures all equipment is properly assembled, operates, cleaned and stored at the end of each work Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
Performs medical records reviews and applies appropriate protocols and guidelines to determine medical needs.
Maintains patient medical records in electronic format as well as hard copy as
Prepares and submits administrative
Participates in training and continuing education programs for new procedures, techniques, and equipment.
Perform Clinical Support Staff Protocols (CSSPs) in accordance with established policies/procedures.

Establishes and maintains appropriate, professional, interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other team members.
Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned
Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:* Education: Certificate. Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).* Experience: One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation. Minimum 6 months of experience must be within the last year. Place intravenous (IV) catheters to support procedural requirements.

* Licensure: Possess current unrestricted RN License from any state.* Life Support Certification: Possess current ARC or AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification. Must be certified to place IV (intravenous) catheters and present proof of certification. * Security: Possess the ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.
