Summary:

The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant will conduct patient intake, take vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and complete patient health history in the electronic medical record. The ideal candidate will display good decision making skills, be able to multi-task, have knowledge of anatomy, and is proficient in medical terminology. This role may be required to draw and collect blood samples for patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, which may involve exposure to bodily fluids during patient care. The assistant must be friendly, professional, and able to keep a fast pace during clinic hours.

In some practices, the MA may perform scribing duties; accompany the provider into the patient examination room and accurately and efficiently document the encounter; order any labs, make referrals, and order prescriptions that have been recommended by the provider. Responsible for monitoring care team metrics to evaluate improvement metrics and outcome. Provides coverage for other Core Offices as needed, based on priorities, and performs other duties as assigned.
