Schedule: Part-Time | 2 Days per Week
Hours: 8:00 AM 3:00 PM, Mondays & Fridays (pending school calendar)
Caseload: 1:1 Student
Setting: School-Based

Position Details

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide 1:1 nursing support for a medically complex young lady attending school two days per week.

The student receives instruction at home for the remainder of the week. Her private nurse is unable to accompany her into the school setting, so an RN is needed to provide dedicated nursing care while she is at school.

The RN will also be required to ride the school van with the student to and from school, as she travels with significant medical equipment that requires monitoring and support.

Student Medical Needs

The student has a complex medical history, including:

  • Dandy-Walker malformation
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Chronic respiratory failure secondary to global hypotonia
  • History of tracheostomy
  • History of dysphagia
  • Seizure disorder
  • History of GERD
  • History of multiple pneumonias
  • Requires medical equipment for breathing and feeding

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care and continuous monitoring throughout the school day
  • Monitor and assist with respiratory and feeding-related medical equipment
  • Ride the school van with the student and monitor her medical needs during transportation
  • Respond appropriately to changes in the student's condition
  • Follow the student's established medical care plan and school health protocols
  • Communicate with school staff, family, and healthcare providers as needed
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania RN license
  • Experience working with medically complex pediatric students preferred
  • Experience with respiratory support, feeding equipment, seizures, and medically fragile students strongly preferred
  • Comfortable providing 1:1 care in a school environment and riding school transportation with the student
  • Reliable, compassionate, and comfortable working independently
