Make a meaningful impact supporting a student one-on-one as a Registered Nurse, working approximately 35 hours per week during a critical assessment period. This contract-to-hire opportunity is based near Fremont, CA, and involves accompanying a student attending the California School for the Blind for one month. Utilize your skills in both school nursing and legal nursing as you help ensure a safe, supportive environment during the assessment process.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in California
- Experience as an RN in school settings or with pediatrics
- Proficiency in legal nurse consulting is a plus
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
- Empathy and patience working with students with visual impairments
- Ability to work independently and handle medical needs in a school environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized, 1:1 nursing support for a student throughout the assessment period
- Monitor the student’s health status and document any changes or occurrences
- Manage routine and emergency medical care with professionalism and compassion
- Communicate with the student, family, and school personnel about health needs
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with legal and school requirements
- Serve as a resource for health education and advocacy within the assessment setting
