Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN)- Infusion
Registered Nurse Job Summary:
An RN Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients requiring Intravenous (IV therapies, including medication administration, blood products, hydration, and other infusion treatments. This role combines clinical expertise, patient education, and compassionate care to ensure safe and effective infusion therapy. The RN Infusion Nurse works closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care tailored to individual patient needs.
Registered Nurse Shift Availability:
PRN (as needed)
Registered Nurse Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
Perform venipuncture, central line care, and manage peripheral and central IV lines
Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and other infusion therapies according to physician orders and protocols
Monitor patient for adverse reactions during and after infusions, intervening, as necessary
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health status before, during and after infusions
Monitor vital signs and other indicators of patient response to therapy
Document patient care, progress, and any adverse events accurately in electronic health records
Provide patient and families with education regarding infusion therapy, medications, and at-home care instructions
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers
Communicate effectively with patient, families, and interdisciplinary team members
Registered Nurse Experience and Skills:
At least 1-2 years of experience in infusion therapy preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in IV insertions and infusion equipment operation
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Registered Nurse Education:
Associate’s degree in Nursing (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program
Registered Nurse Licenses/Certification:
Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse
BLS verification within 6 months of hiring
ACLS and PALS verified within 6 months of hiring, will provide training
