Renal Metabolic Unit
The Renal Metabolic Unit is seeking compassionate and highly motivated Registered Nurses to join a specialized team dedicated to caring for patients with complex renal, metabolic, and multisystem medical conditions. This fast-paced acute care environment provides nurses with the opportunity to develop expertise in kidney disease management, dialysis therapies, electrolyte disorders, endocrine conditions, and other complex medical diagnoses requiring close monitoring and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Nurses on the Renal Metabolic Unit work closely with nephrologists, hospitalists, endocrinologists, pharmacists, dietitians, case managers, and dialysis teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care that optimizes outcomes and supports patients throughout their healthcare journey.
Shift: Full-Time Nights
Patient Population/Services
- Acute and chronic kidney disease
- End-stage renal disease (ESRD)
- Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients
- Acute kidney injury (AKI)
- Electrolyte and fluid balance disorders
- Diabetes and endocrine-related conditions

Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Indiana or eligibility for Indiana licensure.
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Medical-surgical, telemetry, renal, dialysis, progressive care, or related acute care experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and prioritization skills required.
- Ability to provide compassionate care to patients with complex chronic and acute conditions.
