A Brief Overview

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support in an outpatient setting. This role includes but not limited to rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in the electronic medical record, assisting with procedures, supporting providers, and promoting efficient patient flow while delivering patient-centered care.

What You Will Do
  • Facilitates unit operations by managing patient flow.
  • Assist with front desk duties specific to department, including scheduling patients, collecting and verifying patient payor information and other patient documentation.
  • Performs basic patient centered care as delegated by provider
  • Provides a safe environment for patients

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Briefly orients patients on what to expect during their visit. Informs patients about delays. Respond to telephone calls by making appointments, providing information and appropriate referrals. Schedule, cancels and reschedules patient appointments as appropriate. Prepare and maintains patient medical records.
