Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled nursing care to individuals and groups under the direction of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider. Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding health, treatments, and self-care. Document all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards. Adheres to regulatory standards and ACH policies, maintains a safe and clean environment, and reports safety concerns as appropriate. Works collaboratively as a member of the patient care team, engages in ongoing education and professional development, and performs additional duties to support efficient operations and quality patient care. We also have a NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist who provides monthly simulations, hip-to-hip education, and just-in-time education. She has also taken on ensuring our policies and procedures are up to date and in alignment with the enterprise and the latest evidence-based practices. Our staffing core is 5 nurses, though we have a robust per diem team as well as status nurses willing to pick up to help the team. Our assignments are generally 1 :3 ( i.e. feeder/growers) or 1:2 ( i.e. CPAP, stable vent, central lines) with the occasional 1:1 for those extremely high acuity babies ( i.e. cooling, unstable jet or oscillator, nitric). If there are minimal to no after-hours needs during the shift, the RN On-Call will support chart review and patient phone calls from their home. They are responsible for all practices and duties within the scope of practice outlined by the state.
