What you’ll do as a Palliative Registered Nurse:
- Symptom Management: Palliative care nurses are experts in managing pain, nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath, and other symptoms associated with serious illnesses.
- Develop and implement care plans, and medication management to alleviate discomfort
- Care coordination and education: Palliative care nurses coordinate care among various healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive the necessary support and treatment.
- They educate patients and families about their illness, treatment options, and what to expect as the illness progresses.
Who you are as a Palliative Registered Nurse:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in sensitive situations.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered, truly listening to understand patient and family needs.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient conditions and provide personalized care.
- Resilient and emotionally stable, with strong self-care practices.
- A minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or a related field like ICU, geriatrics, or oncology.
