Job Description
  • The RN Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (DCES) delivers comprehensive and seamless services that integrate all clinical and self-management aspects of diabetes care. 
  •  The DCES is an integral part of the inter-professional team and provides collaborative, comprehensive and person-centered care, and education conducive to behavior change and improved quality of life across the lifespan.  
  • The DCES supports and advocates for people affected by diabetes to optimize quality care.
  • The DCES promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals to reduce risks and optimize health outcomes. 

Qualifications
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field preferred

  • Certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) through the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education preferred.  

  • If not certified, will obtain CDCES as soon as certification requirements are met. 

  • Must have or obtain working knowledge of diabetes care technology.

Job Overview The Clinical Education Specialist (CES) utilizes nursing arts and sciences, child development, education, psychosocial, and cultural theories to facilitate the delivery of comprehensive clinical care to patients and families at the unit level.
