We’re Looking For: 

Licensure or Certifications 

  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Degrees:

  • LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing 

 

What You’ll Do: 

Schedule: MA will cover Dr. Howse (OB/GYN) primarily and work M-F, 8 hr shifts between the hours of 07:00am-5:15pm. MA will float between our 2 clinics- West Allis and Franklin. Will also be expected to cover other physicians and APC's in our shared OB/GYN practice.

 

As a Medical Assistant/LPN, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.   

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:  

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.  
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.  
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.  
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.  
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.  
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.  
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care. 

 

Pay Structure: For Medical Assistants the pay starts between $22-23/hr. For LPN the pay starts between $24.50-25.50/hr. Pay is determined by experience and qualifications of the position. Leaders may be willing to offer more with prior direct experience in the role.

 

About This Location: The Aurora Obstetrics & Gynecology - Franklin clinic, located within the Aurora Health Center - Franklin at 4202 W Oakwood Park Ct, provides women's health services including routine gynecologic care, pregnancy care, family planning, birth control counseling, and support through various stages of women's health

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.  
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.  
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.  
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.  
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.  
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.  
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.  
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.  
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.  
  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

Direct and Indirect Patient Care / Clinic Responsibilities: Follows protocol and perform accurate and thorough workups and check-ins of all patients Accurately assesses current status as well as preventive health status and communicates needs to provider Assists with patient education based on assessment of patient needs and clinic standards of nursing care and documents in patient record Provides skilled nursing care as demonstrated by safely and accurately performing technical skills (sterile dressings, EKGs, pulmonary treatments, etc.) and the safe, accurate administration of medications, IV fluids, and immunizations Anticipates the needs of providers related to patient visits, and assists providers with patient care Assumes role of advocate to ensure health needs are met including responding to patient phone messages and requests in a timely and professional manner Documents all provider orders, nursing actions, and interventions on patient record consistent with organizational policies Assists with triage patients on-site and via telephone for appropriateness and timeliness of care per provider preference Knowledgeable of and follows all established Infection Control guidelines and OSHA standards and participates in staff training events Performs proper handling and labeling of all test samples according to organizational policies Keeps patients/families informed of situations that affect patient's clinic visit; i.e. extended waiting times, seeing provider other than originally scheduled, etc. Able to perform effectively and appropriately in emergency situations Performs other duties as assigned or requested Licensed Practical Nurse Qualifications: Education: Minimum Required: Completion of a LPN / LVN accredited program Experience: Minimum Required: Minimal/No Experience; Preferred: One to two years of experience Licensed Practical Nurse Skills: Good communication skills Good organizational and time management skills Computer skills related to word and outlook. Licensure/Certification: Current LPN license in the state of Kansas BLS verification within 6 months of hiring Age Specific Skills: Age of Patient Population Served: Infant (29 days-less than 1 year) Pediatric (1-12 years) Adolescent (13-17 years) Adult (18-64 years) Geriatric (65 years and older) Hazardous Working Conditions: OSHA Category 1: Tasks that involve exposure to bloody, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.
