About this Job: General Summary of Position The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a key member of the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered acute nursing care to individuals with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. Provides direct nursing care to patients as assigned which includes collect assessment data administration of medications and performs activities of daily living including among others bathing mouth care feeding patients range of motion walking patients and transporting patients in accordance with Nursing Department/Hospital policies and procedures. Performs sterile and non-sterile treatments in accordance with Hospital policy including but not limited to: tube feedings ostomy care Foley catheter insertion/care hang/monitor/regulate IV's TPN and site care maintenance of drainage tubes with/without pump or suction chest physiotherapy dressing changes and wound care splinting (emergency department only) oxygen administration suctioning and blood/glucose monitoring. Reports changes in patient status to the RN and members of the health care team as they occur and communicate information in verbal and written reports that describe care delivered to the patient. Collaborates with the RN on an on-going basis regarding effective nursing interventions and patient care. Provides direction and supervision of the patient care associates demonstrates professional judgement problem solving techniques time-management principles and delegates appropriately. Minimal Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing required Experience Must be quantifiable (i.e. minimum of one (1) year experience within a Rehabilitation or acute setting). New graduates considered based on student clinical experiences. Licenses and Certifications LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure in the State of Maryland required CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
