Complex Care RN Shift Supervisor - Nights - Full-Time

Job Purpose

The RN Shift Supervisor - Complex Care is the first line supervisor on a nursing unit that practices and directs patient care activities during assigned shift. This position provides skilled nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice Act and requires staff accountability for compliance with regulatory and professional standards for patient care units and staff.

Supervises nursing staff and the daily duties to perform direct patient care activities. An active member within interdisciplinary team to coordinate plan of care for patients: patient placement in unit to meet child’s need, oversee updates to nursing care plan for patient, participate in Patient Care Conferences & Team Meetings as scheduled, serve as liaison/contact person for nursing and other departments to assure care needs for the patient are met.

Performs skilled nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice Act. Participate in departmental Planning & Improvement efforts: serve on department &/or hospital committees, complete medication administration and employee attendance audits – analyze data regularly & recommend process improvements.

Performs administrative duties such as recordkeeping, multi-disciplinary communication, scheduling and other necessary tasks to ensure daily operations are complete

Coach nursing staff with clinical instructions, advice or guidance when needed or required

Serve as liaison with patients’ families and patient care team to ensure quality care

Work Schedule

12-hour shifts - (6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.)  with rotating weekends. 

 

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Nursing. Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English required.

Experience:

3+ years as RN Staff required

License/Certification/Credential:

Registration and current RN license in Oklahoma. CPR and PALS Certification.

 

Training requirements for dayshift:

Week 1: Monday-Friday from 8:00am 4:30pm

Week 2: Tuesday-Thursday from 6:30am-7:00pm

Week 3: Tuesday-Thursday 6:30am-7:00pm

 

Training Requirements for Week 1:

This involves a variety of trainings. On Monday, you will onboard and learn about hospital requirements and culture from HR. Tuesday, you will complete RT training. Wednesday is Nursing Orientation. Thursday is New Employee Orientation for all BCHC new hires. Friday is a trauma informed care class called Mandt that we require of all employees.

 

Training Requirements for Week 2:

This week will include a thorough rehabilitation training day, our Meditech EMR system training, and other required courses related to your position (ie. HealthStream, Lippincott, BLS course, PALS course, etc.)

 

Training Requirements for Week 3:

Packet training week includes all nursing specific trainings. During this week you will complete mandatory online classrooms specific for your job title, and complete hands-on skills at the bedside and with our nurse educators.

 

Please keep in mind that all full time, part time, and occasional employees are required to attend these trainings and orientations.
