Summary:

Functions in a collaborative practice with physicians in a Neighborhood Health Center setting with a patient population of >90% government payor or underinsured population.  Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Is able to evaluate and incorporate social determinants of health into treatment plan. Works alongside a multidisciplinary team to effectively support a high volume of socially and medically complex patients. Supports physician to meet empaneled patient demand and quality goals. Serves as a patient advocate by collaborating with others to connect families to needed resources. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs. Serves as a resource for office clinical personnel as needed along with precepting new providers.

What does the Surgical Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to) Under supervision or in collaboration with surgical attending physicians, the Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers care in an outpatient clinic setting or a combination of outpatient clinic and hospital/operating room (hybrid) setting. The Clinician provides comprehensive reproductive healthcare services to patients at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas (PPGT). Works as part of the Health Services team in collaboration with Health Services and other team members to meet the clinical needs of patients as outlined in affiliate protocols. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and consults with supervising physicians as needed. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other forms of treatment, including contraception. The Clinician is part of the medical services team providing sexual and reproductive healthcare as outlined in affiliate protocols. Provides services by telehealth and/or in-person visits including: history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis, and treatment according to protocols.
