Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current RN license with willingness to obtain Short-Term Approval for School Nurse this year
  • Commitment to pursue Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Nurse Endorsement in the next 1–2 years
  • Experience in school nursing or as an RN in pediatric or educational settings highly desirable
  • CSN experience or bilingual abilities in Spanish are a strong plus
  • Comfort with technology, including electronic health record systems and digital management of health-related IEP/504 documents
  • Initiative, dependability, strong attendance, and flexibility—essential for continuity of care
  • Experience or willingness to assist students with personal care needs when necessary
  • Emphasis on teamwork, initiative, and a solutions-oriented approach

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school health office, including medical reviews and daily student needs
  • Accurately document student health concerns and interventions through electronic records
  • Participate actively in IEP and 504 Plan processes, providing expert health input
  • Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents to ensure a supportive, inclusive environment
  • Assist with personal care for students as required, ensuring dignity and respect
