Lead Medical Assistant/MA - Primary Care Clinic

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for Lead Medical Assistant to join our team in Rogers, MN! This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is benefit eligible position. Clinic Hours of Operation are Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This position also qualifies for up to a $2000 New Hire Sign-on Bonus. 

As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families.  The Medical Assistant will gather information and documents to support the patient visit.  The medical assistant is responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures and practice guidelines, promoting teamwork with all members of the health care team, maintaining complete, timely and accurate clinical documentation for each patient and continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and workflow.

Lead Medical Assistants will coordinate daily activities of the team to ensure patient needs are met. They are responsible for daily work assignments and makes adjustments to meet department requirements. Lead MAs will assist with arranging immediate coverage for sick calls and assigns breaks. They will provide observations and assists with testing for proficiency regarding performance, conduct, and behavior management. The Lead will attends clinic meetings and communicate appropriate information; serving as a clinic representative at peer groups or other meetings. Leads will promote an empowering and team centered environment within the department, other site departments, and other clinics. Coordination of staff orientation, training, and orientation to new and existing staff is also be an important function of the Lead MA position.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily activities of work team to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Assists with arranging immediate coverage for sick calls and assigns breaks.
  • Monitors daily work assignments and adjusts in assignments to meet department requirements.
  • Refers standards of practice issues to supervisor for resolution.
  • Responds to and helps resolve operational issues, including provider issues
  • Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained by serving as liaison to supply chain.
  • Coordinates staff orientation and training. Provide education training and orientation to new and existing staff
  • Participates in interview process.
  • Provides observations and assists with testing for competency regarding performance, conduct and behavior for performance management.
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Promotes team environment within department, other site departments, and other clinics.
  • Serves as a clinic representative at peer group or other meetings as assigned.
  • Attends clinic meetings and communicates appropriate information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) AHA

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in functional area is preferred
