About the Role

The Medical Assistant supports patients throughout their health center experience by providing compassionate clinical assistance, patient education, and administrative support. This position works closely with clinicians and other health center team members to prepare patients for visits, assist with examinations and procedures, perform laboratory testing, maintain accurate medical records, and help ensure visits move efficiently.

The ideal candidate is organized, attentive, and comfortable discussing sensitive healthcare matters in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner. What You’ll Do

Patient Care and Clinical Support

  • Welcome patients, explain what they can expect during their visit, and communicate information about delays or next steps.

Required Qualifications

Prepare and maintain accurate patient registration, medical, laboratory, and visit records. Document required information in the electronic health record and review entries for accuracy. Verify patient payment methods and determine eligibility for financial assistance or private-pay services. Calculate patient fees and collect, post, and reconcile payments according to organizational billing and financial procedures. Provide patients with the appropriate forms and review them for completion. Complete required daily financial and charge-closing activities. Communicate with team members to help patient visits progress in a timely manner. Handle medical waste and follow universal precautions and workplace safety requirements. Participate in required training, quality improvement, risk-management activities, and staff meetings. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong verbal communication and patient-service skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Previous experience in an OB-GYN, surgical, procedural, or recovery-room setting. Experience in reproductive healthcare or family-planning services.
