Adult Transplant Intensive Care Unit:
University Hospital’s Transplant Intensive Care Unit (TICU) is an 8 bed post abdominal transplant floor. The Registered Nurse on this unit would take care of a variety of patients such as liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, and multi-visceral transplant recipients. The ideal candidate would enjoy a fast-paced work environment with high acuity patients. The TICU team embraces teamwork, the complexity of their patients, and advocates relentlessly for the best possible outcomes.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- Hemodynamic Management
- Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Collaborative management
- Dynamic Interprofessional Collaboration
- EKG Interpretation and Arrythmia management
- Trained in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Immunosuppression therapy for transplant patients
- Specific Organ Nursing Management

Qualifications:
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
