School Registered Nurse (RN) in Dekalb, IL

Bring your expertise as a school-based Registered Nurse to a dynamic educational setting in Dekalb, IL! This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year (May 20th). Support and advocate for a high school student in a rewarding 1:1 roleensuring both safety and daily well-being.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois RN license required
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting highly valued
  • Skilled in tracheostomy monitoring, including airway checks and suctioning as needed
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and respond calmly to clinical needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for working with students, families, and school staff
  • Adaptability and compassion in supporting young individuals with medical needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 nursing care for a female high school student during school hours
  • Monitor tracheostomy and related respiratory needs throughout the day
  • Deliver routine health care and respond to emergent situations promptly and effectively
  • Maintain accurate documentation of students health status and interventions
  • Collaborate closely with educators and support personnel to ensure the students full participation in school activities
  • Support the students educational outcomes through proactive health management
  • No responsibilities for bus riding required; student is ambulatory

This role is school-based with consistent hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (with a 30-minute lunch break), totaling 35 hours a week at one assigned school. Candidates will work independently without district-provided direct supervision (para, CNA, LPN, or RBT).
